It has long been observed that people with diabetes have a greater risk of dementia. Recent research has shown that it is not simply high blood sugar that causes memory loss but low blood sugar as well.
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is defined by episodes where blood sugar drops below normal and can cause symptoms of dizziness, disorientation, fainting, or seizures. Traditionally, when diabetics begin to experience these symptoms they immediately consume extra sugar. This results in a dramatic increase in blood sugar beyond the normal range. In other words, diabetics continually ride the roller coaster of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) and low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). This study looked at patients with diabetes and the incidence of hypoglycemic episodes being associated with dementia. The startling statistics showed that patients who had three or more episodes of hypoglycemia over a life time were at almost double the risk of dementia.
Clearly, fluctuating blood sugars, either high or low, causes tremendous damage to the brain. Regulating blood sugars daily is important to preserving good brain health, especially in diabetics.
Dr. McBarron's Recommendation -
Blood Sugar Formula by Vita Logic is a safe, natural supplement that helps to stabilize blood sugar. Unlike diabetic medications, Blood Sugar Formula is natural, containing cinnamon and other herbs which help to control blood sugar while not allowing it to get too high or too low. In addition, Blood Sugar Formula contains herbs that support the organs of the body that are most often damaged by fluctuating blood sugars. Blood Sugar Formula is an excellent supplement for anyone wishing better blood sugar control. It is not limited only to use by diabetics but can be taken by anyone who is concerned about achieving better control of fluctuating blood sugars.
