Diabetic Men Weight Loss Benefit

While being at an ideal weight is best for good health, a recent study did show that even a small amount of weight loss benefits overweight men with diabetes. A reduction of as little as 5 per cent resulted in some positive changes in health in as little as 8 weeks. Some of the positive changes were things like reversal of sexual problems (erectile dysfunction and lack of sexual desire) and urinary tract problems.

The authors pointed out that the findings from this study support earlier studies that returned similar findings. The Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Sexual Medicine noted that “At a time when oral drugs are very popular, it can now be shown that weight loss is an important non-pharmacologic therapeutic intervention”. He went on to say that “Obesity is an epidemic, and such data reinforce the positive relationship between eating right, losing weight, improved sexual function and voiding (urination) and overall cardiovascular health.”

Now, let’s put things in into perspective by doing a little math. If you weigh 200 pounds, losing 10 pounds would be 5 per cent weight loss. If you weigh 250 pounds, you would need to lose 12.5 pounds to take your weight down by 5%. So, you see, even a small amount can truly make a big difference. Why not get started today?
