Over the past couple of years fish oil has become one of the most popular supplements in the arena of natural medicine and the list of benefits associated with fish oil as a natural alternative has now grown to include depression.
Many studies have been conducted demonstrating the benefits of fish oil. A recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry demonstrated that in individuals who were depressed and taking antidepressants, fish oil supplements proved to be beneficial.
Researchers used a fish oil supplement that contains both EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). They found that of the patients taking antidepressants in conjunction with a fish oil capsule over a course of eight weeks, the severity of their depression symptoms improved.
However, as a side note, patients involved in this study who were suffering from anxiety noticed no real clinical improvement in their condition.
Past research supports results showing the benefits of fish oil for cardiovascular health, reducing risk of blood clots, supporting the immune system and improving circulation.
Vita Logic Fish Oil is a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids including DHA and EPA. It is derived from Nordic coldwater fish which provides the purest of fish oil supplements. Vita Logic Fish Oil does not contain mercury or other contaminates and therefore is sometimes preferred over adding fish to the diet. Also, Vita Logic Fish Oil is a soft gel capsule which reduces or eliminates any “fish oil burp.”
