The health benefits of garlic in each of its forms have been studied extensively and new clinical trials continue to find further benefits. Raw or unprocessed garlic has been known to treat fungal infections and it may also reduce the risk of certain types of cancer. However, anecdotal reports of rashes or skin burns, in both people applying garlic in topical therapy and food preparers handling garlic can be found. These side effects of utilizing raw garlic do show improvement without long term or permanent effects when the individual ceases skin contact with garlic.
