Skipping meals is equivalent to not putting gas in your car. Sooner or later your tank empties, you end up running on empty and usually overeat to compensate. Feed your body reasonably and on schedule and you are less likely to experience ravenous hunger.
Studies show that eating breakfast every day is very important part of getting to and maintaining a healthy weight. Sadly though, breakfast is one of the most skipped meals of the day. Here are 5 reasons to eat breakfast every day:
1.The word “breakfast” means break the fast. When your body sleeps, your metabolism slows down, lowering your metabolic rate and causing you to burn fewer calories to conserve energy. When you eat breakfast, you wake up your metabolism, causing you to burn more calories. This means more fat burning.
2.When you skip meals (especially breakfast), you are so hungry by the next meal that you end up making bad food choices and you end up eating more in one meal than you would have eaten in two meals if you hadn’t skipped that meal in the first place.
3.Research shows that people who eat breakfast are more alert and do better on tests.
4.Many breakfast foods contain nutrients that we don’t find in foods that are typically eaten for lunch and dinner. Whole grains, berries, and non-fat milk contain fiber, folic acid, and calcium.
5.If you start the day out with a healthy meal, it sets the tone for the whole day. You will be more likely to make sensible choices for lunch and dinner if you have made a healthy choice for breakfast.
